“INSIDE JOB” showing at the Elks Theater Monday November 28 at 6:30 pm

We are fortunate to be able to show the film “Inside Job” on the Monday evening after Thanksgiving, November 28th at 6:30 pm, co-sponsored by Occupy Rapid City and Voices of the Heartland Film Society. The tickets are $5.00 each.  Clay and I have seen the film a few times already, and it is excellent, dealing with the financial collapse in 2008, etc.  There is a link at the bottom of this message to the trailer.

Because we wanted to be sure there is enough room for everyone, we have rented the large theatre at The Elks for that evening.  If you are willing, please assist the effort by sending this to your email list so that we have a good turnout.  There will also be a discussion held afterwards, with Clay and a few others participating in a panel.

Thank you.  And I hope to see you there!

Mary Ellen

Hello Everybody…

Occupy Rapid City, in cooperation with Voices of the Heartland Film Society, is presenting the film “Inside Job” at the Elks Theater in Rapid City on Monday, November 28, at 6:30 pm. Admission $5.00.
Please spread the word to all who might be interested, and bring your friends!
Here’s a review posted on Amazon:
“For anyone interested in knowing what caused the bottom to fall out of our financial sector and economy to the tune of trillions (shouldn’t that be all of us?), Ferguson [the director] takes a complicated topic and spells it out in an intriguing, understandable and methodical way. We knew things were awry; but this really blows the lid off the deal. I don’t think this is what the Founding Fathers had in mind…a billion-dollar cabal with club members including the upper echelons of Wall St, Washington and academia.

Nice blend of Matt Damon’s narration and the interviews. Definitely riveting…and troubling. Even distressing and disturbing for those who have suffered as a result of the financial collapse. Unlike many documentaries that conclude with some specific ‘calls for action’, “Inside Job” leave viewers awestruck and without a laundry list of what to do or who to call. In any case, very well done and highly recommended. Also, keep an eye on the large and impressive list of those who declined to be interviewed. Their silence was deafening.”
